Tony Harrison

Tony Harrison is a poet, playwright and translator. Many of his works have been performed at the Royal National Theatre and he is known for controversial works such as his poem ‘V’, as well as versions of dramatic works. He has won numerous awards over the years including the Whitbread Prize for Poetry in 1992 for The Gaze of the Gorgon, the inaugural PEN Pinter Prize in 2009 and the David Cohen Prize for Literature in 2015. He won the 1980 National Poetry Competition with his poem ‘Timer’.
