Nicky Kippax

Nicky has recently completed a Masters in Creative Writing at York St John University and she is a student mentor in creative writing classes for Converge – the university’s outreach programme for people recovering from mental health difficulties. She has been twice-shortlisted for the Bridport Prize for Poetry, longlisted for the Gingko Eco Poetry Prize and she won the Festival of Ideas short story competition, in partnership with the University of York. Her work has recently been shortlisted for the Live Canon International Poetry Prize and for the Write Out Loud ‘Beyond the Storm’ poetry competition, judged by Andrew McMillan. Nicky is currently (2020) completing her first collection of poetry and beginning work on a new novella-in-flash which will explore human and environmental symbiosis and patterns of dislocation. She lives in York, has two children and runs a sourdough bakery with her partner.
