Matt Barnard

Matt Barnard has had poems published in numerous magazines, including Acumen, London Magazine, Magma, Other Poetry and Outposts. He featured in the Poetry School’s 2004 anthology Entering the Tapestry and won The Poetry Society’s Hamish Canham Prize with his poem ‘The Sore Thumb’ in 2006. His poems ‘The Gift’ and ‘Hey Presto’ were also selected for Poetry News Members’ Poems competitions in 2006, and his poem was ‘Learning Magic’ was selected for Poetry News Members’ Poems competition in 2015. In 2015, he also won the Ink Tears national short story competition with ‘The Last Damn Peach’ and his poem ‘Eel’ was highly commended in the Bridport Prize. Matt’s debut pamphlet, The Bends, will be published in the summer of 2017 by Eyewear Publishing, and his first full collection will be published by The Onslaught Press in early 2018.  His website can be found at
