Edward Barker was born in Rome, Italy, and studied Medieval History at Magdalen College, Oxford. He has worked as an actor, translator, shipbroker, and script-writer, and now lives in London with his wife and child and runs a small project for homeless people (www.240project.org.uk). He was a long-term member of Michael Donaghy’s workshops and currently that of John Stammers. In 2000 he founded the www.thepoem.co.uk website and Limelight webzine. Publications include an unauthorised chapbook (First Poems) in 2002, followed by a group pamphlet (The Like of It) in 2005. Since 2010 his poems have won several awards and commendations. His poem, ‘The Mother Dough’, was commended in the National Poetry Competition 2012.
