Denise Bennett has an MA in creative writing (poetry) and teaches FE classes in this subject. She won the Havant Literary Festival poetry competition in 2014 and the Hastings Poetry Competition in 2013, as well as winning the inaugural Hamish Canham Prize from the Poetry Society in 2004. Her work has appeared in various poetry magazines and has regularly been selected for the Poetry News members’ poems competitions. Her pamphlet, American Dresses, was published by Flarestack in 2000. Her first full collection, Planting the Snow Queen, was published by Oversteps Books in 2011 and was followed in 2015 by Parachute Silk, also published by Oversteps Books.
