I nearly kept a secret

I nearly kept a secret
kept it in my mouth
kept it boiling and bubbling
but safe within my mouth

I nearly didn’t slip
Nearly held myself up
Above the lining of reality
safe above the closeup
of the ground

I nearly learnt to dance
with colors and grace
To feel a talent stitched into my name
I nearly wanted to embrace
the sky with my toes on point

I nearly gave up
As my body caved in
moulding itself around failure
a feeling of defeat and sin

But I didn’t
